Black Bull Close Update

Restoration of the Black Bull Close continues in Dunbar, with one of the buildings now playing host to a stunning new chimney, painstakingly built by The Ridge Foundations team of Trainee Masons under the watchful eye of Masonry Trainer, Andy Stockdale.  The newly lime-washed chimney is fully functioning and will one day feel the heat from the original cast iron ranges still surviving within the building but in need of restoration. The roof itself is under construct meaning that very shortly and rather excitingly the building will be roofed for the first time in a very long time. Access to the Backlands Garden site is available most weekdays for anyone wanting to see these changes for themselves.

This ever-changing scene provides a backdrop for an exciting programme of events over the coming months. We have scheduled dates for our Community Archaeology that are filling up fast so BOOK NOW if you have ever wanted to be an archaeologist for the day. Children are welcomed accompanied by an adult and details can be found on our website and social media channels: @theridgeCIC or you can contact The Ridge directly via email: margaret@the-ridge.org.ukor by phone: 07534 304789.

As ever we are hugely grateful to our funders that continue to make this work possible; Heritage Lottery Fund and The Architectural Heritage Fund (Scotland) as well as Historic Environment Scotland.
