The Backlands Garden is officially open for the summer after the building of a series of whin-dust paths within the garden. Funded by East Lothian Council’s Civic Pride Fund, the new pathways have made the garden fully accessible to all. Members of the public are invited to pop in between the hours of 10-4 every Thursday and Friday to have a look and keep up to date with the latest goings on in the Garden.

The Garden will also be trialling a local food waste composting project. We have a number of worm boxes in the Garden that can be used to create create compost out of food scraps. If you live within the vicinity of the garden and would be interested in bringing in your food waste on a regular basis in exchange for some fresh vegetables and herbs then please either message the garden’s Facebook page or visit the site between the hours of 10-4 on a Thursday or Friday and speak to our team.
