Kate Darrah spent 16 years teaching (Modern Languages, then working with youngsters with Additional Support Needs). She retrained in Horticulture, through the Royal Horticultural Society, followed by full-time study at the Royal Botanical Gardens/Scottish Agricultural College in Edinburgh. She has long been involved on the committees of local community groups.
