The Ridge is Moving On

Time for a change! The Ridge is moving on from the Belhaven Community Garden to focus on other priorities. So much has been achieved in the months since February – working with trainees, volunteers and the Sustaining Dunbar Working Group, we have produced a beautiful sensory garden, a productive poly tunnel and external raised beds, planted flower beds and replanted the orchard. And we have recently co-ordinated a bulb planting day that will result in a wonderful spring display. We are sure that the garden will continue to be enjoyed by patients, visitors and the broader community. This is something that we can all be really proud of.

So much of the incredible transformation of this barren space into a glorious community garden has been down to the tireless involvement of many enthusiastic volunteers. A HUGE thank-you to everyone who has had a part in making it possible. And our thanks too for all the appreciation, kind words and encouragement which have spurred us on and given us so much inspiration along the way.

Sustaining Dunbar has now taken over the day-to-day management of the garden. If you are interested in getting involved or learning more about their plans for the site and future volunteering opportunities, please contact Sue Guy via Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/sustainingdunbar or https://www.facebook.com/incrediblyedibledunbar

The Ridge will keep you up to date with news of our developments – we have a number of new volunteer opportunities planned, as well as a new, smaller site, where the focus will be on developing our training and productive horticulture priorities.

Watch this space … exciting times ahead.
