Recruiting – Operations Group Head

The Ridge is seeking an experienced and values-driven Operations Group Head to provide senior operational leadership across both The Ridge SCIO and The Ridge Foundations CIC. This is a strategic, part-time role (21 hours per week) with responsibility for ensuring that the organisation operates effectively, safely and sustainably, in line with the direction set by the Board.

Reporting directly to the SCIO Board, the Operations Group Head will have full accountability for operational performance across The Ridge. This includes oversight of people management, HR processes, financial controls, operational planning and delivery, and the development of a strong and effective management team. While fundraising and community engagement sit outside this remit, the role works closely with colleagues across the organisation to support joined-up delivery and shared objectives.

A key aspect of the role is leadership. The successful candidate will lead, support and develop staff across multiple functions, fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture. This includes recruitment, induction, appraisals, performance management, staff wellbeing, and ensuring that teams have access to appropriate training and professional development opportunities. The Operations Group Head is expected to role-model the behaviours and values of The Ridge and act as an ambassador for the organisation.

The role also carries significant responsibility for governance and assurance. The post holder will prepare reports for the Board, attend Board meetings, implement Board-approved policies, and maintain regular communication with the Chair. They will monitor operational and financial performance against agreed plans and budgets, take remedial action where required, and ensure that robust systems and controls are in place across the organisation.

We are looking for a candidate with proven senior-level operational management experience, strong financial and budgetary awareness, and solid HR knowledge. Excellent communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders are essential. Experience within the social enterprise or third sector is desirable, alongside a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the social aims and objectives of The Ridge.

This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in a purpose-led organisation that delivers meaningful impact for its community, while working flexibly within a supportive and values-driven environment.
