The Ridge SCIO is seeking an experienced and values-driven Finance Manager to lead the financial management and governance of our charity. This is a key, senior, part-time role (21 hours per week) within the organisation, responsible for ensuring strong financial control, compliance, and reporting while supporting strategic decision-making across the Group.
Reporting to the Operations Group Head and working closely with the Board of Trustees, the Finance Manager will provide high-quality financial information, oversight and assurance. The postholder will ensure full compliance with Scottish charity law, OSCR and Companies House requirements, and the Charities SORP, while maintaining robust financial systems and internal controls that support the sustainability and growth of The Ridge.
This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on operational finance management. The successful candidate will lead on monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow and reserves management, and the preparation of statutory accounts. They will also oversee day-to-day financial operations including payroll, reconciliations, income processing and payments, and will line manage our Finance Administrator to ensure accuracy, efficiency and continuous improvement.
We are looking for a qualified accountant (or someone with equivalent relevant experience) with proven experience in a finance management role. A strong understanding of charity finance – including restricted and unrestricted funds, SORP, and OSCR requirements – is desirable. Just as important is the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and confidently to trustees and non-financial colleagues, supporting informed decision-making at Board and senior level.
The ideal candidate will bring integrity, precision, and sound judgement, alongside a collaborative and approachable leadership style. Experience of working with a Board of Trustees and within the third sector would be advantageous, as would knowledge of funding, grants and funder reporting.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who is motivated by purpose and wants to play a central role in strengthening and sustaining a community-focused organisation making a tangible difference across East Lothian.
